Tone on Tone Family Layout

Oh - I have a great plan for a photo- I told my family. Let’s take a picture of all of us in the canola field. As my entire family humoured my crazy plan I forgot that we grow great canola crops. In fact our crops were so tall that the picture turned out like I had photo shopped our heads with no bodies into a field of yellow. FYI - this was not the look that I was going for! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

But my family loves me and helped me get a picture close to what I was looking for by all of us standing on the very edge of the field.
It’s stories like this that I love to scrapbook. And it’s why I love scrapbooking so much.

I had fun playing with the ton on tone  challenge for Pink Fresh Studio this month. This was a fun one to join.

NOEL Shaker card

Interactive cards are so much fun - so I decided to take a card I made earlier and tweak it making a second card but this time changing it up to be a shaker card.
I am so happy with how it turned out.

Using the amazing Pink Fresh Studio products this card came together beautifully.

I will be entering this in the following card challenge:

Teal and Pink Hibiscus Card

Ok - hear is one of my favourite color combos for the Pink Fresh Studio amazing Hibiscus stamp stencil set.
Now - these florals were inked up this summer during my evening inking sessions at the cabin. So that means that these are made from the original Pink Fresh Ink colors. I can’t wait to get my new ink colors Togo back to all my stamp stencil sets and see what new color combos I fall in love with.
But for today this is my card to share with teal and pink florals.

Look at those colors. I have never been to Hawaii- but to me this has Hawaiian florals written all over it. Especially having heat embossed the stamped image in gold.
I layered this on a lovely background die used on pearlized champagne card stock laid on top of gold card stock.

I love this color combo for this card and a little bit of bling just finished the card off.

For You - Pink Fresh Card

I had so much fun being inky with the Hibiscus stamp stencil set this summer. And when I ink a set for a scrapbook layout I often make more than I need. But that’s not really a problem- it just means that I have extra to make 1 or more cards from. That is how this card came about.

Look at those lovely mauve and pink florals - I must have been in a creative mood when I inked those up and decided to ink the leaves in blue. My daughter wasn’t so sure - Mom I don’t think I have ever seen blue leaves - was her comment. Oh well - I think it adds some interest.
Along with the hibiscus florals I added a butterfly, sentiment and bling all topped on the gorgeous background. That die cut background was cut from gold card stock layered on top of a piece of champagne pearlized card stock.

I am happy with how this turned out and I will be entering this card in the following Pink Fresh Studio Challenge

Pink Fresh Tone on Tone in Greens

I am challenging myself to start making more Christmas Cards - because you know it will be here before we know it.
Today the card I am sharing is a tone in tone Merriest Christmas card in greens.

All of the products are beautiful Pink Fresh Studio items. The lovely forest stencils are such a joy to play with. Combing the stencilled piece with the banner die negative in gold card stock I think made such a beautiful and simple card. I then added the sentiment and some bling in the corner and tada!

I will be entering this card in this months Pink Fresh challenge which is all about tone on tone.

Tone on tone Pink Fresh Noel Card

This is one of my latest Christmas card designs. I was very happy with how simple test elegant this card turned out.

The beautiful Ornate alphabet dies pair beautifully with the hot foiled ornaments. A little bling on the lovely background die cut paper is a lovely base to this card. I may just have to try this design in different color schemes.

I will be entering this in the following challenge

WCMD - Pink Fresh Joy card

I want to share another card that I made for World card making day. I figured it was time to start increasing my supply of Christmas cards. So here is a simple Joy card.

Those hot foil Pink Fresh ornaments are so gorgeous as are the amazing Lea and Heather alphabet dies.

I will be entering this in the following challenge

Pink Fresh Hi card

I spent World Card Day playing in my craft room to create some new cards to add to my stash. I like to have a large selection on hand that I can grab and use.
This card is made using the gorgeous Pink Fresh inks to stencil the geometric background in the lovely oranges. The lovely flowers are Folk Art Garden 2 that I got foiled and then ink stencilled.

This was a fun card to create. Not my usual color scheme to use but I think it turned out great.

Newton’s Nook - A Christmas Hello

Newton’s Nook has a great sketch challenge out this week. And I have enjoyed playing along to create some fun cards. This card is my take on the sketch to create this Christmas Hello. I really need to get working on my Christmas cards if I am to have enough for this season which will soon be upon us.

I’m never sure about those mischievous little kittens in this stamp set. But this little guy makes for a great card I think.

I will be entering this in the following challenge.

Newton’s Nook - A Bushel of Thanks

Such a fun card to create. And I have to say the most fun was having my daughter help me in the designing. That orange pumpkin behind the kitten in the pot was all her idea. I have to say I really like how her creative mind works.

Card creating is such a fun past time and I love that I can now share this craft with my talented daughter. She has such an eye for colour and placement. What a fun evening of creating.

I will enter this card in the Newton’s Nook current challenge.

Lawn Fawn Stitched Leaf Card

Today’s card looks just like it did the day I made it. It was a beautiful fall day with the darker blue sky filled with clouds. And all the amazing colours of leaves everywhere.

Doing the stitching with the embroidery hoop die is definitely a new favourite of mine. And how cute are those little mice!
I will be joining the fun weekly challenge for the Lawn Fawnatics.

Newton’s Nook - Happy Fall Y’all

I have been enjoying spending time in my craft room again. This time I pulled out my Newton’ Nook stamps and started creating some items for the current NN challenge. This weeks challenge is a sketch to follow.
This Happy Fall Y’all card was the product of my time in my craft room.

Colouring the cute bucket and pairing it with the floral topper was so much fun. I then matched my pen colours to some paper for the stripes.
I am really happy with how this all turned out.

I will be playing along with the challenge.

Lawn Fawn Happy Fall

This is a fun little card that I created to play along with the weekly Lawn Fawnatics challenge.
My new favourite from Lawn Fawn are the embroidery hoop die and all the fantastic stitching guides.

This cute leaf took me just half an hour to stitch up while I was watching some tv. I love embroidery and now I can incorporate it into card making and scraping.

I will be entering this in the following challenge

Hibiscus Hello Card

I love making 1 card but then actually creating 2 with the leftover and negative pieces. I posted the other card I created with similar pieces a few days back.

The hibiscus stamp and stencil set was our new set that my mom and I played with while enjoying our time at the cabin with all the kids this summer. And of course now with the girls teenagers who are also crafters they enjoy joining us at the table in the evening to Stamp and ink blend with those amazing Pink fresh stencil sets.
By the end of the summer we have lots of stamped inked and die cut creations ready to use on upcoming cards and layouts.

I will be entering this in the monthly challenge at Pink Fresh Studio.

Lots of Layers Layout

This layout has lots of layers including a hidden journal tag. This is my creation for the September Pink Fresh Studio monthly challenge.

Using vellum, metallic paper, ink stenciled designs, sentiment pieces,  and embossing all work together to create this piece. Oh and of course lots of foam tape because … you know - dimension!

Of course I had to include hot foil pieces - I do love those little butterflies!

And if I haven’t said it yet here it comes - I just love Pink Fresh Studio ink stencil sets. I love playing with the many different color combos.

What a great time I had putting this page together for the challenge.

Sunshine card

Today I am sharing a sunflower card. Sometimes I like to have cards with no sentiment on the outside so I can use them for any occasion.
This card uses the amazing sunflower washi tape from Pink Fresh Studio.

This card is layered with Pink Fresh Studio products. Including the washi tape, foil butterflies,  and the die cut gold leaf stem. All this layered goodness is over top of the diamond background die cut which was cut from the blue paper that was used with the cover plate.
I am very happy with how this all turned out.

I will be entering this card in the following challenge

Crafting With Kids - Last Card

And here it is - Kiri’s last craft of the summer - with school for her officially starting back this upcoming week we say goodbye to lake time and hello routines.
This was a card that she created weeks ago but never got around to taking the pictures of.

This card really does make me realize how true the sentiment is for Kiri in her daily life. Reading is as important to her as her crafting is - but let me tell you nothing tops her kitty cats!

Thank you Simon Says Stamps for a fun filled crafty summer. Hope to do this again next year with my crafty girls.

Crafting With Kids - Sticker Making

Remember that time when your kids loved the box more than they did the gift that came in it? That really does go to show how inventive and creative kids can be when given the opportunity. This summer my niece and daughter played with many mediums. Some more expensive than others.
This craft was created with paper , pencil crayons and tape - pretty basic craft supplies.
Olivia created these cute fruit stickers - love her free hand drawing - so much better than her Auntie’s abilities.

I think her sanding and fine black pen marks are her signature.
Well done Olivia.
This brings us to the end of our summer together. Till next year my crafty buddy!

Crafting With Kids - More Bracelets

Kiri jumped in with her cousins bracelet making. She used both beads and elastics to create her creations.

I can not believe how many different mediums and types of crafts these girls do on a weekly basis.
This has been a great way to document all the crafting the girls have done this year.
Thank you Simon Says Stamp for this wonderful challenge.

Crafting With Kids - Bracelet Making

More fun craft time for the kids as summer comes to a close. Both cousins love to make bracelets with the bead kit that one brought to the cabin.
Some examples of Olivia’s bead creations follow.

These will be entered in the Kids Challenge at Simon Says Stamp.

Crafting With Kids - Stitching

So my new favs are the cute embroidery hoop stitching dies from Lawn Fawn. They are so cute! So after seeing some of my many stitched hearts and all the different instructions for the cute fruit ones off my niece went to create. After a few questions answered by her cousin who had made a pineapple stitched fruit earlier this summer she was on her way.

Well done girlie! So cute! I may have to try these fruit ones next.

I will be entering this for my niece in the following challenge.

Crafting With Kids Interactive Card

So while sitting around the kitchen table crafting I was inking with stencils, mom was fussy cutting, daughter was drawing in her sketchbook and this was what my niece was off creating all on her own.

What a great evening of creativeness! So much fun.
I will enter this for my lovely niece in the following challenge.

Crafting With Kids - Clay Creation

My daughter loves everything crafty and creative and I love that I can offer her different artistic mediums to use and learn. This week she tried her hand at using clay. To be completely honest this is not my thing at all. So as long as she cleans up after herself I am fine with her doing it but it’s all on her.
So being a crafter who also loves Pokรฉmon she created this cute little charm to give as a keychain to her cousin.

I do think that the little clip and chain was found in my craft room - it looks rather like one of my Tim Holtz ones ๐Ÿค”.  Oh well - all in the name of crafting. And yes she did ask for permission to use it once she found what she had been searching for.
What a kid! Great job Kiri.

I will enter this for her into the following challenge

Crafting With Kids - Another Bookmark

If you can never have enough books then I think it should also be that you can never have enough bookmarks right? Well my niece figured that was the case and made a bookmark. I think it is super cute.

Her artistic talent is what I wish I had both at her age and even now. I love her simple flowers that she drew with her markers and the cute little flecks. It almost looks like she used patterned paper but nope - it’s all created by this amazing young lady.
I will be entering this for her in the children’s challenge at Simon Says Stamp

Crafting With Kids Bookmark

This is a cute little bookmark that Kiri created using those cute stamps from Newtons Nook. I love watching my kids get crafty and creative and see what they come up with. With the number of books we read in the family someone is always needing a bookmark. This one is cute - maybe it should be for my next read.

It seemed kind of plain until she found a bottle of stickles and created some neat detailing for the background.

Great job Kiri!
So here we are linking it up to the Simon Says Stamp Kids Challenge.

Crafting With Kids - Niece

I love being an Auntie. And I absolutely love crafting with my nieces. This week I got to hang out with my niece Olivia for the second week this summer. We call each other “Crafty Buddy” because summer time at the cabin is when we craft together. So now that she is older we craft along side each other and I swear I learn more from her than she does from me. Look at this talent.

This beautiful picture is all done freehand with her own sharpie markers / highlighters. Stunning am I right? But I just might be bias towards my Crafty Buddy.

She was super excited to hear that we could enter this piece into a kids craft challenge. So thanks so much for this cool opportunity Simon Says Stamp.

Hey Beautiful- Layout

I love getting inspiration from challenges- it make me think and create in different ways. And that is what I did when I created this layout for the Pink Fresh monthly challenge https://www.pinkfreshstudio.com/blogs/card-making-challenges/august-2023-challenge

Using amazing Pink Fresh products I created this lovely (at least I was happy with it) layout of my youngest oh so many years ago.

The challenge is to include glitter and sparkle so I of course went gold using Pink Fresh gold embossed washi, hot foil butterflies and some gold speckles of water colors for good measure.

I know - she’s pretty cute right?!

Another Crafting with Kids

As a teacher, mother and crafter I am always saddened to see schools doing less in the way of arts. I think art classes into high School can be such an important time to teach crafty and artistic students new mediums. As the arts disappear more from our local school as a parent I try to open up more art opportunities for my kids - and I am very glad I do. It is always great to see what they can create.

I don’t draw freehand - it has never been my thing. All I draw is stick people so my girls definitely didn’t get their drawing or painting abilities from me. It must have come from their grand mother. But here is a beautiful piece that my 13 year old created and then turned into a book mark. I am hoping that she gifts it to me ๐Ÿ˜‰ - color me impressed!
