Crafting With Kids - Last Card

And here it is - Kiri’s last craft of the summer - with school for her officially starting back this upcoming week we say goodbye to lake time and hello routines.
This was a card that she created weeks ago but never got around to taking the pictures of.

This card really does make me realize how true the sentiment is for Kiri in her daily life. Reading is as important to her as her crafting is - but let me tell you nothing tops her kitty cats!

Thank you Simon Says Stamps for a fun filled crafty summer. Hope to do this again next year with my crafty girls.

Crafting With Kids - Sticker Making

Remember that time when your kids loved the box more than they did the gift that came in it? That really does go to show how inventive and creative kids can be when given the opportunity. This summer my niece and daughter played with many mediums. Some more expensive than others.
This craft was created with paper , pencil crayons and tape - pretty basic craft supplies.
Olivia created these cute fruit stickers - love her free hand drawing - so much better than her Auntie’s abilities.

I think her sanding and fine black pen marks are her signature.
Well done Olivia.
This brings us to the end of our summer together. Till next year my crafty buddy!

Crafting With Kids - More Bracelets

Kiri jumped in with her cousins bracelet making. She used both beads and elastics to create her creations.

I can not believe how many different mediums and types of crafts these girls do on a weekly basis.
This has been a great way to document all the crafting the girls have done this year.
Thank you Simon Says Stamp for this wonderful challenge.

Crafting With Kids - Bracelet Making

More fun craft time for the kids as summer comes to a close. Both cousins love to make bracelets with the bead kit that one brought to the cabin.
Some examples of Olivia’s bead creations follow.

These will be entered in the Kids Challenge at Simon Says Stamp.

Crafting With Kids - Stitching

So my new favs are the cute embroidery hoop stitching dies from Lawn Fawn. They are so cute! So after seeing some of my many stitched hearts and all the different instructions for the cute fruit ones off my niece went to create. After a few questions answered by her cousin who had made a pineapple stitched fruit earlier this summer she was on her way.

Well done girlie! So cute! I may have to try these fruit ones next.

I will be entering this for my niece in the following challenge.

Crafting With Kids Interactive Card

So while sitting around the kitchen table crafting I was inking with stencils, mom was fussy cutting, daughter was drawing in her sketchbook and this was what my niece was off creating all on her own.

What a great evening of creativeness! So much fun.
I will enter this for my lovely niece in the following challenge.

Crafting With Kids - Clay Creation

My daughter loves everything crafty and creative and I love that I can offer her different artistic mediums to use and learn. This week she tried her hand at using clay. To be completely honest this is not my thing at all. So as long as she cleans up after herself I am fine with her doing it but it’s all on her.
So being a crafter who also loves Pokémon she created this cute little charm to give as a keychain to her cousin.

I do think that the little clip and chain was found in my craft room - it looks rather like one of my Tim Holtz ones 🤔.  Oh well - all in the name of crafting. And yes she did ask for permission to use it once she found what she had been searching for.
What a kid! Great job Kiri.

I will enter this for her into the following challenge

Crafting With Kids - Another Bookmark

If you can never have enough books then I think it should also be that you can never have enough bookmarks right? Well my niece figured that was the case and made a bookmark. I think it is super cute.

Her artistic talent is what I wish I had both at her age and even now. I love her simple flowers that she drew with her markers and the cute little flecks. It almost looks like she used patterned paper but nope - it’s all created by this amazing young lady.
I will be entering this for her in the children’s challenge at Simon Says Stamp

Crafting With Kids Bookmark

This is a cute little bookmark that Kiri created using those cute stamps from Newtons Nook. I love watching my kids get crafty and creative and see what they come up with. With the number of books we read in the family someone is always needing a bookmark. This one is cute - maybe it should be for my next read.

It seemed kind of plain until she found a bottle of stickles and created some neat detailing for the background.

Great job Kiri!
So here we are linking it up to the Simon Says Stamp Kids Challenge.

Crafting With Kids - Niece

I love being an Auntie. And I absolutely love crafting with my nieces. This week I got to hang out with my niece Olivia for the second week this summer. We call each other “Crafty Buddy” because summer time at the cabin is when we craft together. So now that she is older we craft along side each other and I swear I learn more from her than she does from me. Look at this talent.

This beautiful picture is all done freehand with her own sharpie markers / highlighters. Stunning am I right? But I just might be bias towards my Crafty Buddy.

She was super excited to hear that we could enter this piece into a kids craft challenge. So thanks so much for this cool opportunity Simon Says Stamp.

Hey Beautiful- Layout

I love getting inspiration from challenges- it make me think and create in different ways. And that is what I did when I created this layout for the Pink Fresh monthly challenge https://www.pinkfreshstudio.com/blogs/card-making-challenges/august-2023-challenge

Using amazing Pink Fresh products I created this lovely (at least I was happy with it) layout of my youngest oh so many years ago.

The challenge is to include glitter and sparkle so I of course went gold using Pink Fresh gold embossed washi, hot foil butterflies and some gold speckles of water colors for good measure.

I know - she’s pretty cute right?!

Another Crafting with Kids

As a teacher, mother and crafter I am always saddened to see schools doing less in the way of arts. I think art classes into high School can be such an important time to teach crafty and artistic students new mediums. As the arts disappear more from our local school as a parent I try to open up more art opportunities for my kids - and I am very glad I do. It is always great to see what they can create.

I don’t draw freehand - it has never been my thing. All I draw is stick people so my girls definitely didn’t get their drawing or painting abilities from me. It must have come from their grand mother. But here is a beautiful piece that my 13 year old created and then turned into a book mark. I am hoping that she gifts it to me 😉 - color me impressed!

Crafting with Kids Again

One of my new favourite things to craft with are those awesome lawn Fawn embroidery hoop paper cutting. Dies. They are so cute. I have the regular blank one, the heart one and the star one. And now every few weeks they seem to post new designs that can be created using the regular blank one. So last 2 weeks ago I printed off the instructions to the fruit designs. I had fun creating the cherry and pear. I have yet to turn them into cards or tags - I just enjoy embroidering them.
Well - I guess I’m not the only one. This cute little pineapple was embroidered by my 13 year old daughter.

Another fun activity done at the lake. It’s only fitting that she would embroider here. After all this is the place where my grandmother taught me to embroider my first of many sets of pillowcases.
She doesn’t know what she wants to do with this yet - for now she just keeps it on her dresser and always reminds me that she made it all by herself 😉.

She asked me to enter this in the following challenge.

Just for you!

This card has lots of sparkle and bling in person.

From hot foil to bling to Wink of Stella this card has it all. And all of it is using beautiful Pink Fresh Studio products. I just love those amazing florals - Folk Art 2 and the small butterfly. Hot foil and stencil inking are so much fun to play with.

I will be entering this in the following challenges

A Sweet Birthday Card

Another sweet little birthday card to send someone special some special birthday wishes. This was made using the amazing Pink Fresh Studio stamp / stencil / die sets of the florals from Be Strong.

The hot foil sentiment and the jewels added just a little bit of glitter and bling.
I will be entering this in Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge that is celebrating those special birthdays in our lives.

Teal Happy Birthday

I loved playing with this teal mono chromatic birthday card.

I really love Pink Fresh Studio products. The fun that I have with all the different stamp / foil / stencil / die sets is wonderful. I tend to create lots of different embellishments ahead of time in multiple different colors and then us them throughout the year. For me summer time at the cabin is a great time of year to ink up the little lovelies like butterflies and florals.

Look at how the foil captures the light. Sadly my photography skills just don’t do it justice.

I will be entering this in the following challenges

Best Wishes BDay Card 2

I finally have time to post the cards I created this week so here we go again. Here is another card featuring the Pink Fresh Studio Washi tape Celebrate.

This was a fun card to create and I know I will use all the many birthday cards I have been making.

I will be entering this in the Monday Challenge over at Simon Says Stamp. https://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge

Best Wishes BDay Card

Birthdays are so great to celebrate- and they are probably one of the cards that I use the most. This week I played along with the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge which was all about Birthdays - https://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge
The first card I have to share is this Best Wishes Pink BDay card. It used Pink Fresh Studio supplies which I just love.

You can always tell which items are new to me as I tend to use it in multiple items. My newest addition to my Pink Fresh collection is the curvy foliage die which I used in the background.
I still love my hot foil machine. I absolutely love being able to use the hot foil for everything from sentiments to embellishments to backgrounds.

Look at that amazing washi with the gold foil accents from PFS - I love their washi tape. It’s next level!

Crafting with Kids

I absolutely love summer break. I love spending time with my kids up at the family cabin. And in true crafters style we probably pack and bring more in the way of craft supplies than we do food and clothes combined 😂. But summer evenings when we aren’t outside sitting by the fire are for those of us who craft to be able to hang out all together at the kitchen table doing whatever craft fun we want. When the kids were young this was a time for them to experiment on their own and learn from us. Now that they are pre-teens / early teens it is a chance for them to relax and just play.
My daughter has so many joys crafting and she loves to experiment with so many different mediums.
Here is a magnet set that she created when she decided that the fridge needed a new set of summer magnets.

I love how she just went and raided the stamp box and then made it all her own. I may need to take some lessons from her and how she adds those beautiful touches with the white pen.

Perhaps I have created a craft monster? Oh well. I’m ok with that.
I am entering her creations in the Simon Says Stamp children’s Summer Challenge. What a great opportunity for kids.
